A PDA phone does what its name suggests-combine a cell phone with a PDA. This makes the features of both available to the user. Many users prefer this combination because it combines two commonly used business applications in one device. A PDA phone also takes advantage of the applications of both PDAs and cell phones being on the same machine.
An address book is one program that benefits from being part of a PDA phone. The user can access the address and telephone number, then call that number on speed dial. The user can also, by setting the PDA phone on speakerphone, work on other applications with the PDA phone while talking. Some users purchase a separate miniature headset, which connects to the PDA phone wirelessly, in order to increase their efficiency.
PDA phones also support email and Web browsing, and many PDA phones have a minature keyboard on them so that a user may create word processor documents. Most PDA phones use an operating system especially configured for them. Microsoft provides the OS Windowns Mobile and Windows CE, while Palm provides the Palm OS and Blackberry's PDA phones use the Blackberry OS. Some programmers have made PDA phone operating systems from a Linux kernel, which boasts greater stability. |
