PDA Cables
 |
PDA cables are used to connect a PDA with another computer, usually the computer that contains the PDA software. Originally, PDA cables were serial cables, and only used to connect PDAs to desktop or laptop computers in order to sync the two together.
Currently, PDA cables are USB. USB cables can transfer data between electronic devices faster than a serial cable is able to. USB cables are the present standard of PDA cables. They are used for simple cable connections, PDA docking ports and direct connections between PDAs.
While PDA cables are still used primarily for computer-PDA connections, many PDAs use wireless technology. Wi-Fi connections are regarded as more convenient and just as fast, particularly for PDA to PDA connections. However, PDA cables still are considered the best way to connect to a laptop or desktop, as Wi-Fi is prone to security breaches that is not an issue when using PDA cables. However, many people prefer the convenience of Wi-Fi over the added security of a PDA cable. |
Most PDA cables are multi-use. Many USB cables can connect other devices to the computer, including digital cameras, mp3 players or any one of a number of digital devices. In fact, many USB cables can become PDA cables.
