Since HP PDAs use the Microsoft Windows Mobile operating system, palmtop versions of Microsoft programs can run on an HP PDA with little problem. Web browsers may also be available, as well as email programs. Games are always a popular option, and an HP PDA has some basic games included in its software.

Internet connectivity is a popular option with HP PDAs. Wi-Fi is especially popular, and many HP PDAs take advantage of it. Wi-Fi technology also means that an HP PDA is Bluetooth compatible. This is especially important with HP PDAs that incorporate a cell phone into their functions, as a Bluetooth earpiece can easily be supported to leave the user's hands free for other tasks.
